Standard payment terms
The business enters into two types of contracts:
• Contracts on behalf of the firm which includes all costs relating to the running of the business; and
• Contracts on behalf of the client, where the costs are then recharged to the client as disbursements.
In relation to the firm's costs, the business' standard payment terms are 30 days from the invoice date. If an invoice is disputed, the head of the Business Group will take steps to resolve the issue before the invoice is authorised for payment. If contracts are disputed then the standard terms are likely to be exceeded.
Disbursements are usually paid once the money is received from the client. Where the contract relates to a conditional fee agreement matter then enhanced terms will have been agreed with the supplier and the payment is due once the money is received from the client on the conclusion of the matter.
